Fabienne Gauchet a été formée à l’école de lutherie de Newark, en Angleterre. Après l’obtention de son diplôme en 1998, elle a poursuivi sa formation lors de stages, notamment en France son pays d’origine. Établie au Canada en 2000, elle a travaillé pour Wilder et Davis Luthiers durant quinze ans en réparations et restaurations. Elle a ainsi eu l’occasion d’être en contact avec de très beaux instruments et de nombreux musiciens. Enrichie de ces expériences, elle consacre maintenant tout son temps à la fabrication des instruments du quatuor. En recherche constante du développement de son savoir et de ses connaissances, elle participe à des concours internationaux ainsi qu’à différents évènements tel que la New York Contemporary Violin Makers Exhibition, Le Forum des Fabricants au Canada et au réputé Oberlin Violin Making Workshop. Fabienne est membre fondateur du Forum des Fabricants (Association canadienne des luthiers et archetiers) et du Collectif Lutherie Montréal, un atelier de lutherie indépendant.
Fabienne Gauchet trained at the Newark School of Violin Making from where she graduated successfully in 1998. She continued her training through apprenticeships, mainly in France, her birth country. Established in Canada since 2000, she worked at Wilder & Davis luthiers for fifteen years. There, she had the opportunity to work on fine instruments and to meet many talented musicians. Enriched by these experiences, she now devotes her time working on new instruments of her own. Constantly seeking to expand her knowledge she has been participating to the New York Contemporary Violin Makers Exhibition, the Forum des Fabricants in Canada, the Oberlin Violin Making Workshop and international violin making competitions. Fabienne is a founding member of The Maker Forum (Canadian Association of Violin and Bow Makers) and of Collectif Lutherie Montreal, an independent makers workshop.
